Smith, Davis to Head LGSU

The Lesbian/Gay Student Union of Case Western Reserve University has announced its officers for the 1985-86 academic year.

Mike Smith was elected president, with Bill Davis vice-president. Rob Daroff, president for 1984-85, was elected secretary. Jerry Bores continues as the group's treasurer and Charles Callender as its faculty advisor.

Formed six years ago, the LGSU has grown from a handful of students to its

current 60 members.

During his term of office, Smith expects the LGSU to continue its present twopronged program, providing a support system for gay and lesbian students in the Cleveland area through raps and social events, while presenting the annual Lesbian/Gay/Feminist Conference as a service for the larger community. He hopes to expand LGSU's outreach to gay people in general as well as those on local campuses, and looks forward to the 1986 Conference.

BIRTHDAY PARTY PRODUCES POT FOR AIDS

Larry

and Jim have been lovers for several years. This year, when planning Jim's Birthday Party for April 21st, they decided to do something different.

The

guest of honor and host requested that the partyers donate money to help local AIDS patients.

With the help of Over the Rainbow owners and staff Kim, Jeff, Dale, Karen and Randy, Jim celebrated his

birthday with family and friends. At the same time, this unique party raised a $500 donation for the Health Issues Task Force's AIDS Support program. This program provided assistance to local people with AIDS for things such as food,

medicine, clothing, and housing.

Jeff Swindler, Finance Chairperson for the Task Force, noted: "This is a fine example of how Clevelanders are opening their hearts to help those with AIDS."
